Rug Weaving

Rug Weaving

We are now offering custom rug weaving!  Either have us make your rug yarn or send us some already spun, and we’ll weave it into the rugs of your dreams!  We charge $1 per inch of length for our standard width of 28″to 32″.  Feel free to ask for custom widths or designs.

Here are a few examples of rugs to get your creative juices flowing:

This was a fun rug of 100% suri, spun to a chunky yarn, then dyed. The color changes really make the warp pattern 'pop' while it ties it all together.

My 'Larry the Lamb' rug. Larry provided the brown wool, and I threw in random bits from his herd-mates for fun. This rug has no fringe, for those who prefer a tidy look.

This lovely rug is made from suri alpaca! We spun the yarn, the customer dyed it, and then we used a pain black warp to show off the bold wave of color. Simple tied fringe on the ends finish it off.

This is a lovely Denim Blue Hand-woven Shetland Wool Rug...the yarn is core-spun around a cotton core, and the warp is a poly/cotton blend to ensure years of wear. This rug is 33" wide by 44" long, made from one 'bump' of rug yarn, woven in a traditional "Hollywood" rag rug pattern. To weave a rug this size from your weft costs $1 per inch, or $44. There is no fringe, just a tidy seam at either end.

This beauty is a naturally-shaded suri alpaca wound around a cotton core, woven with cotton/poly warp and a double twisted fringe. 32" wide by 50" long, it would cost you $50 for me to weave one from your rug yarn. Yes, fringe is included in the length - this fringe takes just as long as the weaving!

This sweet little rug is a combination of our Shetland sheep, woven as a sampler of their natural colors. 100% Shetland wool spun to a chunky thickness, with a cotton/poly warp for durability. The "Hollywood' pattern again...I really like it with multicolored rugs.
